Hokkaido Autumn Sale Preview

Japan's final yearling sale for the 2021 sales calendar is the Hokkaido Autumn Sale in Shizunai, Hokkaido. Not only are the remaining lots who have not yet passed through the ring in prior sales made available on the first day, but yearlings who RNA'd in previous sales are also put through the ring again on the second day, giving this sale a lot of value and depth. There are 449 yearlings cataloged in this year's renewal sired by 125 different stallions making it one of the more diverse sales of the year.

Even at this late stage of the year, some of Japan's most popular and successful stallions like Heart's Cry(JPN), Daiwa Major(JPN), Sinister Minister(USA), and Harbinger(GB) have lots up for grabs. Popular young stallions like leading freshman sire by winners Silver State(JPN), producer of multiple G1 winners Epiphaneia(JPN), Maurice(JPN), leading freshman sire by earnings Drefong(USA), the late Duramente(JPN), and sire of this year's G1 Japanese Oaks winner Gold Ship(JPN).

It has been a year of strong sales across the board in all of the Japanese sales, so as the 2021 year closes out, there will be plenty of buyers looking to fill their quotas yet again in this last opportunity to purchase a quality yearling for the 2022 racing season.

*All stallion information is current as of September 24th, 2021, and includes both NAR and JRA data.
